Speaking Out & Night

We have to speak out for the people of North Korea. Millions of people will continue to suffer in Kim Jong-un's regime if we don't speak out.   People are suffering from starvation that they can't even live so they decide to kill them self:  "My family had decided to commit suicide because for three days we didn't have anything to eat,"(North Korean female defector). This is ridiculous because while we are eating as much as we can in our luxurious houses, people in North Korea are killing them self because they aren't getting any food. And this is the North Korea's government fault because they starved their people and oppressed them by not giving them any civil rights: "The North Korean government may be unique in all the world in its ability and willingness to both starve its people and oppress them, to deny them basic civil rights as well as access to food and health care"(Rendler 1). People in North Korea are being neglected because no one is speaking up. But one will speak up, his name is Elie Wiesel, who survived one of the most horrific death camps in human history, Auschwitz. Elis's speech he said that people need to speak up, they need to choose a side, and not be a bystander: "I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation.  We must always take sides.  Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim.  Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented" (1). This is true because for example people are not speaking up for the lack of human rights in North Korea and this is helping the government keep control over their people. Till now no one is able to speak out because we are going against a country ruled by a leader and only one person cannot change people's life in North Korea. If we want to help people in North Korea we need to do it together and it will be hard but not impossible.
